Fabricator included in Family Business Awards Shortlist

Lancashire Trade Frames is delighted to have been included in the 2022 Northern Family Business Awards shortlist. Postponed from last year because of COVID, the awards have attracted a lot of interest, not least because the organisers have, themselves, done much during the pandemic to support family businesses.

Mark Rowland is the driving force and Managing Director of the fabricator and was excited to hear the news.  He said, ‘While many of my extended family work in the business, this is a whole-team operation. I’m grateful for the support and dedication of the entire Lancs Trade team. Whether we go on to win the award or not, we can all be proud of what we have achieved.’

We asked Mark about the risks and benefits of being a family business. He openly admitted the structure could present issues but went on to stress that families are the original, and best, support network. He also highlighted the depth of understanding that exists in long-term relationships saying that, when making decisions, ‘It helps to know both the strengths and weaknesses of key team members.’

This practical and realistic approach has helped Lancashire Trade Frames establish a strong position in its market. The company has grown year on year since it was founded, and it continues to expand its offering and grow its customer base. It has made substantial investments, continues to develop the skills of the workforce and remains active in its local community.

Without doubt, family businesses face specific challenges, but as the Award organisers clearly know, a well-run family business is worth celebrating.
