This family business has the winning formula

We’ve just heard the very good news that we’ve won the Family Business of the Year Award for the Northern region. Naturally, we are delighted, but our purpose isn’t collecting trophies – it’s serving our customers’ diverse needs and being recognised for delivering this.

Because those needs are diverse, we need a range of skills and experience, and we’ve got that. We’ve got it in the blood relations and the in-laws, and in the wider family which supports our whole operation. It’s a strong, skilled team with many talents.

We guess you can define a family as a team – one where we know everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, where we support and encourage each other. There’s no room for anything other than total commitment and total honesty. It can be tough, but family businesses like ours work because they’re underpinned by loyalty. Loyalty gives rise to stability. Stability promotes conditions for growth. A growing business can invest, create partnerships, build skills, provide employment and opportunity, and become a valued part of the community.
